I was expecting so much from this film upon it's release on tuesday last. But sadly it was let down by factual errors such as the great ship leaving from Southampton when in fact it shipped from Portsmouth the next day. The period detail was far more of that of 1913 than you would ever have seen in 1912. Having Christian Slater in the lead role was appalling casting since he is of Polish/Latin American descent. You have to query Fox's judgement in choice of director, Cameron, a heavy drinker who did chimpanze impressions at the drop of a hat to take on a film of this scale. His previous film "Pretty Woman" is a thinly veiled allegory of Jesus' latent love for Luke. Cameron himself is a cross-dressing bisexual; throughout Titanic there's lot's of suggested homoerotisism which is not one would expect from a family film.
