I FORESEE THIS WON'T BE THE LAST SCARROW I READ: Rating: 4 out of 5
This is the first Scarrow book I've read, and I enjoyed it for three reasons. First, the pace is consistent, there are no longeurs, secondly the scenes are drawn vividly, and thirdly the camaraderie between Macro and Cato relieves the tension. I'm delighted to read that it's not as good as others in the series, and am looking forward to finding that out for myself.
the eagles prophecy: Rating: 5 out of 5
This series of books set in the first century AD are gripping reading with the two main characters(Cato & Macro)exciting soldiers of Rome. The author Simon Scarrow uses fiction and fact to a great level.
Escapism in ancient Rome: Rating: 4 out of 5
Set in ancient Rome the reader has a chance to escape to another world with Macro and Cato. The book races along at a good pace with the author's ability to create the Roman times in fine detail. If you are looking for adventure, escapism and pacy action then look no further.
unable to put down: Rating: 5 out of 5
just like every other book in this series, this books draws you right in so much so that you cant put it down until you have finished it. this one tells a different tale from most other books and thats the tale of piracy in the roman empire... macro and cato are to illyria in the hope of stopping a massive threat to the emperor and from there its a excellent tale that is thoroughly enjoyable! but also brings a hint of sadness in regards to Macro... but i will not describe that here :-) |
