Amazon.co.uk Review
It begins with a twittering of birdsong lifted from "Across The Universe". And once the triple-tracked a capella harmonies of "Because" enter, followed by snatches from "A Hard Day's Night" and "The End", leading into a fired-up "Get Back", it becomes obvious that this is far more than just another Beatles compilation.

This is "Love", conceived by the Fabs' former producer George Martin and son Giles as a stageshow soundtrack to Cirque de Soleil's Las Vegas spectacular of the same name, but appears to have taken on a life of its own. Where The Beatles' last release 1 delivered the (over?) familiar hits in a nice simple package, this is a mélange of the familiar and obscure, all literally mixed together in one 78-minute audio collage which succeeds in reminding the listener just why The Beatles truly are, as Lennon put it "toppermost of the poppermost". There's no new Beatles material per se, but the songs are all approached differently--some are cut together in a flawlessly mixed medley (check out the "Mr Kite/I Want You/Helter Skelter" moment), some reassemble different backing tracks and vocal performances to create new spins on old classics, but all the songs are revitalized considerably. Even in its weakest moments (which probably work better in the context of the show itself), it's still a formidable prospect, and one has to admire Martin's willingness to go out on a limb with such a project.

While purists may complain that the cut'n'paste nature of the project is simply tampering with perfection, at the very least it'll make them reach for the originals and enjoy them all over again. For newcomers and everyone else, it makes a fine listen, both in its sonic clarity (the actual tracks are the best they've sounded on CD) and audacious nature.--Thom Allott

Remixing forces re-listening: Rating: 4 out of 5
Before you read the rest of my review you perhaps should know that I was 15 in 1963 so was a teenager when Please Please Me was released, and I have almost all their UK albums on vinyl.

This album is not really The Beatles, but a re-mix album using their recordings as the basis.

I found I was re-listening to old material in a new way and I liked the result.
Did they do this sober??: Rating: 1 out of 5
The mixing and re-mixing of the Beatles songs is so amateurish that I could have done better.

I'm not against the idea in theory, but I'm amazed at how tacky this sounds in practice.

I'm trying desperately to think how and why they got this so wrong - let's put it like this: it sounds like it was put together by a committee, not the Martins. And you know what they say about committees: "A camel is a horse designed by committee".

This could have been so good, but it's DREADFUL.

If George Martin could hear this clearly, his ears would turn in their grave!
Very enjoyable!: Rating: 5 out of 5
Not a purist myself for any band. There is something to be said for a little expression, and artistic license. This project was released with the full consent and support of everyone: Paul, Ringo, and the surviving members of George and John's family, like Yoko. It was also overseen by the man who produced almost all of The Beatles albums, not palmed off to some third party, but handled with obvious thought and care (get the documentary on DVD, to see the making of this), and a great degree of respect for available material, with minimal recording of new material.

I bought this mainly to see the hype, so admittedly mine was an unopened/as new CD from ebay, inc the "Love: All Together Now" DVD (nice bonus!), because I was dubious based on the negative reviews I read here. However, I don't take reviews for granted, and put trust in my own ears, thankfully. I think this is a rewarding project, not a purely money making effort or form of sacrilege.. but a 21st Century project giving The Beatles fans new ways to enjoy the band and their favourite songs all over again. After all, remastering only cleans up an album, it doesn't change it much. This CD is a totally new experience!

My personal favourites have got to be, "Octopus's Garden", "Eleanor Rigby" "Get Back", and "Strawberry Fields Forever" in terms of the way they sound after being mixed with other components. The way "Blackbird" flows into "Yesterday" is beautifully done, and "A Day in the Life" is still as good as it ever was.

Thank you George Martin, and co. I personally would welcome a Volume 2.
As if they were back with us.: Rating: 5 out of 5
For Beatle lovers, this is the next best thing to having the Beatles alive and well and gracing us again with new songs. George Martin was indeed the 5th Beatle. Thank you for this labour of love.
The Beatles Love at the Las Vegas Mirage Hotel: Rating: 5 out of 5
I was given this CD as a Christmas present this year, having watched the live show at the Mirage Hotel in Las Vegas earlier this year. It brings back all the memories of the show, which was absolutely fantastic and without doubt the highlight of my trip to Las Vegas. The CD is the sound track to the show, perhaps they will bring out a DVD for the actual show in the future, I would definately buy it
